About Langtang Valley Trek
The Langtang Valley Trek is a scenic and culturally immersive journey into one of Nepal’s most beautiful Himalayan regions, located just north of Kathmandu. Often referred to as the “Valley of Glaciers,” the trek follows the Langtang River through lush forests, charming Tamang villages, and alpine meadows, eventually reaching the picturesque village of Kyanjin Gompa and the summit of Tserko Ri (4,984m) for panoramic mountain views.
This trek is ideal for those looking for a less-crowded yet equally rewarding alternative to Everest and Annapurna treks. With its close proximity to Kathmandu, the Langtang Valley Trek offers a rich blend of natural beauty, Tibetan-influenced culture, and accessible high-altitude adventure.
Itinerary
Meet your trekking team and attend a detailed briefing. Time for final gear checks and overnight in Kathmandu.
Scenic 7-8 hour drive along hilly roads and riverside landscapes. Overnight at a local lodge in Syabrubesi, the trek starting point.
Begin trek along the Langtang River through forests of oak, bamboo, and rhododendron. Steady climb with a few suspension bridge crossings. Overnight in Lama Hotel.
Trek through dense woodland with glimpses of Langtang Lirung. Pass prayer wheels, mani walls, and small settlements. Arrive at Langtang Village, home to the Tamang community. Overnight in Langtang.
A shorter trek day with gradual ascent. Pass yak pastures and arrive at the beautiful Kyanjin Gompa, surrounded by snowy peaks. Visit the local monastery and cheese factory. Overnight in Kyanjin.
Early morning hike to Tserko Ri for a panoramic sunrise over Langtang Lirung, Yala Peak, and Dorje Lakpa. Return to Kyanjin for rest and overnight.
Retrace the route downhill through the forested valley. Enjoy easier walking with familiar scenery. Overnight in Lama Hotel.
Final trek day returning to Syabrubesi. Relax and celebrate the end of your trek. Overnight in Syabrubesi.
Return drive through the same scenic route to Kathmandu. Check into your hotel and enjoy your evening. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Transfer to the airport or extend your stay for city tours.
