About Sikkim Goechala Trekking
The Goechala Trek is Sikkim’s most iconic trekking trail, leading you to the base of the mighty Mt. Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain in the world. This 7-day adventure is perfect for trekkers looking for a high-altitude Himalayan experience with a combination of dense forests, alpine meadows, glacial lakes, and jaw-dropping mountain views.
The trail passes through the Kanchenjunga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and offers magnificent sunrise views from Goechala Viewpoint over Kanchenjunga, Pandim, Kabru, and more.

Itinerary
Begin your trek from Yuksom, the historical first capital of Sikkim. Cross hanging bridges, and trek through dense sub-alpine forests rich in orchids and ferns. Pass the Sachen and Bakhim camps before reaching Tshoka, a quaint Tibetan village with monastery views. Overnight in trekker’s hut/tent at Tshoka.
A steep but beautiful climb through rhododendron forests and open alpine meadows. Reach Dzongri, one of the finest Himalayan viewpoints. Overnight in tents/trekker's hut at Dzongri.
Early morning hike to Dzongri Top to witness a panoramic sunrise over Kanchenjunga, Pandim, Kabru, and other peaks. Return to camp and rest or explore nearby meadows. Overnight at Dzongri.
Trek downhill through dense rhododendron and birch forests, followed by a gradual climb to Thansing, set in a wide, flat meadow at the base of Mount Pandim. Overnight in tents at Thansing.
A short and gradual ascent through alpine terrain to Lamuney, the last base before Goechala. Rest, hydrate and prepare for the early morning summit push. Overnight in tents at Lamuney.
Start before dawn to reach Goechala Viewpoint 1. Witness an unforgettable sunrise over Mt. Kanchenjunga and its sister peaks. After spending some time at the top, descend back to Thansing. Overnight in tents at Thansing.
Trek back through the forested trail, crossing familiar camps like Tshoka and Sachen. Arrive back in Yuksom, completing your incredible Himalayan journey. End of trek.
