The Mardi Himal Trek is a beautiful short trek in the Annapurna region of Nepal that offers stunning views of Machapuchare (Fishtail Peak), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. Ideal for those with limited time but a desire for off-the-beaten-path adventure, this trail is quieter than the more popular Annapurna Base Camp or Ghorepani treks.
Winding through lush forests, rhododendron groves, and high alpine ridges, this trek culminates at the Mardi Himal Base Camp and viewpoint, providing an up-close experience with the Himalayas. It’s suitable for beginners with decent fitness and offers a true Himalayan experience in under a week.
Itinerary
Morning drive from Pokhara to Kande (approx. 1.5 hours). Begin trek through lush rhododendron forests. Gradual ascent to Forest Camp through quiet, peaceful trails. Overnight in teahouse.
Trek through dense forests with occasional views of Machapuchare. Notice the change in vegetation as altitude increases. Reach Low Camp, offering your first clear Himalayan panoramas.
Walk along a scenic ridge with open views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. Gradual climb to High Camp, the staging point for Mardi Himal Viewpoint. Overnight with majestic sunset views.
Early morning hike to the Mardi Himal Viewpoint. Breathtaking views of Machapuchare, Annapurna I, and surrounding peaks. Return to High Camp for breakfast and continue downhill to Low Camp for overnight.
Trek down through villages and terraced hillsides to Sidhing. From Sidhing, take a private vehicle back to Pokhara. Overnight at hotel or conclude your trek.
Rest day in Pokhara or transfer for onward travel.
